Won't hand over any Pak citizen to India: Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that no person arrested during the ongoing crackdown on militant groups or any other Pakistani citizen will be handed over to india or any other foreign country.

"Our desire for peace in the region should not be taken as our weakness," Zardari said in his address at a dinner meeting with parliamentarians of his Pakistan People's Party at the presidency on Sunday night.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and cabinet members belonging to the PPP.

Zardari held a separate dinner meeting with PPP Senators on Friday evening to discuss the political and regional situation. During last night's meeting, Zardari briefed the parliamentarians about the security situation in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks and made it clear that no Pakistani citizen would be handed over to India, The News daily reported.

Zardari briefed the parliamentarians about the crackdown on banned militant groups, including the Jamaat-ud Dawah, in accordance with a UN Security Council resolution. He said all decisions were being made in the national interest and the government is closely monitoring the situation.

India has not yet provided any "vital and clear-cut evidence" about the Mumbai attacks, Zardari was quoted as saying by sources. He said Pakistan is fighting the war on terrorism under its own policy and not for the sake of any other country or due to "somebody's pressure".
